Hello to All F.O.E.1801 Members and Members of the Ladies Auxiliary!

 

     Here is a list of our 2007-2008 season of events and activities:

 

August 12th   - Stag Picnic at the VFW Pond –Time:  12 Noon to 5:00 PM

The Eagle Men’s State Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday – September 15th, to be held at St. Mary’s – 10 men will be representing Somerset Aerie 1801. 

 

Steeler Party Information will be posted in the Club – please watch the bulletin board for dates and times. 

 

The Great Tomato Contest will be held this September – Tomato weigh in will be held September 1st through September 15th.

 

The F.O.E. 1801 Christmas Party will be held this year on Sunday – December 9th …..No Children – No guests -  Senior Citizens or Disabled Persons will be received at the side door next to parking lot at 11:30 A.M.  – all other members to the Front Door Please at 12:00 Noon

 

Pool League and Dart Leagues to begin in January – please check bulletin boards at the club for sign up sheets.

 

Chili Contest will be held again in March of 2008

 

     A message to all Eagle Military personnel  - A Huge Thank You for your Service to this Country!

If you are stationed overseas – your dues will be paid up for you by the club – please notify us…

 

An update on the F.O.E.1801 Community Park – If you haven’t been by the field recently – take a ride by…..Fence has been erected and a beautiful sign has been placed at the entrance on Madison Avenue…..Thank you to Jeff and Brenda Stanczyck and Pat Cox for the Sign Work and the lovely flowers….Thanks to Somerset Fence Company for the great job at the ball field… thanks to Jeff For the efforts and considerable time spent on the field with the new dugouts – It looks great!  Thanks go out to Bill Link and Jeff Stanczyck for the mowing…There are still more projects under way – grant work to process – and we are still looking for companies or organizations interested in donating funds to help with improvements – and we will be looking for sponsors to be purchasing  signage at the Softball field……

 

We are quickly approaching our 100th Anniversary in July of 2008  -  Tim Livengood will be the 1st State President in our 100 year History…..Also Tom (Hoss) Cartwright has been elected Grand Justice of the Grand Aerie Tribunal at the recent Grand Aerie Convention, Congratulations to Hoss!!!!

Tim Livengood attended with representation for Somerset Aerie 1801 – July 14th through the 20th.  The 2008 State convention will be in Pittsburgh – stay tuned for events and happenings on the new Web Page …design by Mike Fahy of Data Systems Inc.

 

A KITCHEN UPDATE -  We have had some equipment changes in our kitchen to accommodate better service to our membership – thank you for your patience while everybody gets adjusted to new duties and new product.  As always, we have our $.99 Burger Wednesday night – we are having our WING NIGHT on TUESDAY and THURSDAY, and an additional HAPPY HOUR on THURSDAY as well as WEDNESDAY.  Please feel free to submit reasonable ideas to the suggestion box at the sign in station.  We have also expanded out kitchen hours to include Tuesday’s and  Sunday Afternoon through the football and pool league schedule.

 

The Bartenders at the Eagles have all been PLCB Ramp Certified – PLEASE carry your membership card and DO NOT BE OFFENDED if you are asked to produce your card by any new employee in the bar.  PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY!!!!!

 

 

From the desk of Auxiliary President – Pat Cox

     Hello Brothers and Sisters!!  Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather.  Our President, Pat Cox will be inducted into the State Hall of Fame, September 14, 2007 Congratulations Pat!!!!

Change of Officers:  Becky Queer to replace Mary Alice Deist  -  Conductor, Diana Keller

 

The Auxiliary has Bingo every Thursday starting at 6:30 P.M., you do not have to be a member, and if you would like to come and help or play, you are more than welcome.  We are usually finished with Bingo at 9:30 P.M.

     The Auxiliary meetings are the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month with the 3rd Monday being initiation of new members, and the meetings start at 7:30 P.M. -   We would like to have some ideas that you may have to help raise money, so why not come to a meeting?  We have 827 members now.  As most of you know, a woman can now bring in guests, and we thank the Officers of the Club for that!!

Some Additional Information on Memberships -  You must be 21 years of age to apply for an Auxiliary Membership!  Also – Membership fees are $24.00 for new members to join – then dues drop to $12.00 for year.- if you are UNDER 55 – you can become a beneficial member if you choose to do so.

     Once again, if you move or get married – Please let the Auxiliary Secretary know.  We have a lot that do not do that and then we have receipts being returned to us.  If you pay your dues and want your receipt left at the bar, we will be glad to do that for you.

     The Auxiliary has changed Banks – we now have Somerset Trust – it is very convenient for the treasurer and easy access.

     The Children’s Christmas Party will be Sunday – December 2, 2007 –Mark your calendars for this date.  A sign up sheet will be posted in the bar area around the 1st of November and taken down the end of the month.  The ages will be 8 and under.  You must be present to receive a treat bag – NO exceptions.
